Focus and Scope
GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Department of Government Studies, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin. The journal promotes theoretical, empirical, comparative, and interdisciplinary research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge in government studies, governance, public institutions, public policy, and political processes in contemporary societies.
The journal aims to enhance scholarly understanding of governance and government practices at local, national, regional, and global levels. Particular attention is given to governance dynamics in decentralized political systems, public sector reform, democratic institutions, public policy, digital government, local governance, and governance challenges in developing countries and archipelagic regions. Through a rigorous peer-review process, the journal is committed to disseminating high-quality research that contributes to academic debates, public policy development, and governance innovation worldwide.
Peer Review Process
Every manuscript submitted to GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan undergoes a rigorous editorial assessment and double-blind peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scholarly contribution of published articles.
The review process begins with an initial screening conducted by the Editorial Team. At this stage, manuscripts are evaluated for their relevance to the journal’s focus and scope, compliance with the author guidelines, quality of academic writing, citation practices, and similarity screening results. Manuscripts that fail to meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who possess expertise relevant to the subject area. The journal adopts a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on originality, theoretical contribution, methodological rigor, analytical quality, clarity of presentation, significance of findings, and relevance to the field of government studies. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor may decide to accept the manuscript, request minor revisions, request major revisions, or reject the submission.
Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewers’ comments and editorial recommendations. Revised manuscripts may be subjected to additional rounds of review when necessary.
The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the reviewers’ reports, the quality of revisions, and the journal’s editorial standards. The journal is committed to maintaining a fair, objective, confidential, and timely review process in accordance with internationally recognized standards of scholarly publishing and publication ethics.
Publication Frequency
GOVERNMENT: Jurnal Ilmu Pemerintahan, with registered ISSN 1979-5645 (Print) and ISSN 2503-4952 (Online), is published by the Department of Government Studies, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin.
The journal is published biannually, with two issues released each year in January and July. The journal employs a continuous submission system, allowing manuscripts to be submitted throughout the year.

Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for evaluating submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic merit, originality, significance, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
